Ahhh the food.
Ok so I have made mention here - interspersed among all the other blog posts -about the quality of the amazing food we were served in Jamaica.
We were lucky enough that the location we were at - The Blue Hole Mineral Springs included food and it wasn’t restaurant style - you didn’t get a menu to choose from, it was family style! They serve one menu with several food options during the day.
For every meal they would put out an amazing spread - all the food was amazing! Fresh and locally sourced - I mean, honestly you could taste the difference!
We never ate so well.
I thought I'd share a little foodporn on this page for those of you who, like a lot of my instagram followers, like to see plates of pretty food.
Nice to look at, even better to eat.
#HIGHly recommended you visit Jamaica so you can try the freshest food in the world cooked by the most wonderful skilled people...
Let me take you to....
Brighton, Jamaica, in the mountains about a half an hour away from Negril for ....
BREAKFAST AT BLUE HOLE MINERAL SPRINGS :
And if you think breakfast is amazing at the Blue Hole....
.....you should see what the ladies cook up for us at night!
DINNER AT BLUE HOLE MINERAL SPRINGS :
I was wandering outside the back area near where the working entrance to the kitchen is, thanking all the ladies for the breakfast when I saw one of the young guys -couldn't be older than 19 come in with - I swear to God - a giant 9 foot fish or something! They said it was a Kingfish...normally I'm a little squeamish but hey when in Rome ...or Jamaica... check it out, right?
I took these pictures - I have to say - squeamish or not it was pretty amazing to watch this process. The guy just grabbed literally a machete and BAM! took the head off the fish as his grandma started cooking it ....
Later that day we were serve fish for dinner
This one features not just a Jamaican delicacy of sorts - TING Grapefruit flavored soda pop (a far better version of Fresca it tastes like) ... but also something else the country is well known for...
HUGE THANKS AND SENDING BIG LOVE TO OUR WONDERFUL FRIENDS WHO MADE THIS AWESOME FOOD FOR US THROUGHOUT OUR VISIT TO THE BLUE HOLE !
We enjoyed some meals outside of the Blue Hole, too. I finally got to try a REAL Jamaican patty... and this beats out #TeamWardenStation in Toronto for SURE :)
And even son Cassidy, who rarely tries anything new, enjoyed a veggie patty on the beach!
I'm still looking for the pics of the jerk chicken we enjoyed by the side of the road on our last day in Jamaica on the way back to the airport at Montego Bay...
