REVIEW : ATTRACTION - Jamaica- The Land Of The Giants Sculpture Garden And Art Museum

The Land Of The Giants Sculpture Garden And Art Museum
... in the mountains, in the jungle near Little London, Jamaica.

Prepare to be blown away...

The trees.  The sculptures.  The artwork.

Wow.

Talk about a hidden gem.

I don't know how many travellers to Negril are familiar with this absolutely amazing place about a half an hours drive away, but it's a true view into the art and culture of Jamaica where art is nature and nature is art and the two combine in the most beautiful of ways.  A perfect spot, a perfect experience, a perfect day. (My sixteen year old, crabby from his sunburn of the day before, wasn't in the best of spirits, which marred it a bit as anyone who has spent time with a crabby teen can tell you but other than that, like I said, perfect!)

First, the location.  Check out this video and this video to see the extraordinary setting.

There were barely any tourists there when we were there, only one or two people walking around. We had the honour of meeting the actual sculpture who who created the dozens of amazing amazing pieces of Art in the sculpture garden. It was incredible to view these Majestic pieces of Art, and then have the sculptor to just walk on by to be introduced...

THE SCULPTURES, all by Fitz, the sculptor above....   What incredible work.

You could literally walk through the sculpture garden for hours, appreciating each piece. Just beyond the sculpture garden is the two-story house, that house has some of the most beautiful artwork in the country. Many artists were represented, in some cases with whole collections

I made an accidental piece of photographic art myself when my phone camera went off as we were walking down the hall and accidentally caught this shot of my fifteen year old walking by this piece of art.   I call it.. "Young Lion..."

My teenage son was pretty shocked to see this sculpture ..., and he was cracking up.

And of course, it deserved a selfie.

After I posted it, a lot of conversation and hilarious comments ensued....as well as this :
(Cass is my son, Maurice Linda Fazio is one of my best friends and her husband, and Haily Ray Fox is my 20 something daughter.. lol

                                                   But back to the paintings.....

My husband Dave and I took pictures of most of the paintings so that we could share them with you here.  INCREDIBLE stuff!

In addition to the Giants of Jamaican art on display, the environment itself has some natural wonders to display, and they are pretty giant too.

Look at this tree. I am literally dwarfed in it.

I'm not even sure what kind of tree this is. I guess I should Google it.

There was also a big platform area where you could sit and relax an overlook the mountains in the jungle. This was a great place to stop and smoke a contemplative joint. And of course you know I did.

A perfect day….

Not So Good:
It looked like there was an area where they sold drinks or snacks but it wasn't open when we were there, so there wasn't anywhere to get something cold to drink.  The people who ran the museum were really friendly and were around though, so I am pretty sure if we'd needed to find out someone would have helped us.

 Great :
The incredible artwork
The awe inspiring sculptures
Meeting the sculptor
The incredible location
The friendly people
The mountain views

Overall :  5 stars
